#LessEachDay

I had the chance to participate in #LESSEACHDAY. I wasn't sure if it's for class, but it was a social experiment that a former colleague of mine was working on. It's a de-cluttering challenge wherein participants are required to let go of items that they no longer need. The challenge runs for at least seven days. Participants are required to document his / her progress through photos. Lastly, the photos and the stories behind the items must be shared in some way. Mine are documented in Instagram.

Let Go. Give. Donate. Throw Away.
Curious? Here are some of my things that I gave away to a few friends and female colleagues. These are clothes that I've acquired through the years, accessories ( which were mostly presents ), pens, paper, make-up, souvenirs, creams, lotion, etc. I'm a hoarder with a bad case of separation anxiety because I like to be reminded of good times ... moments, people, places that made me smile, events, work, trips, and everything fun in between.

Then, there are my clothes. I have this strange habit of getting a piece of clothing in different colors, most especially when it perfectly fits me. #girlproblems. I start to feel bad whenever I realize that I need more space in my closet and in my room.

Gah. The things you do when you're young. The stuff that I did when I was younger.

I'm a reformed pack rat.
Sorting stuff + spring cleaning can be tedious and devour so much of your time. I no longer want to be a work-in-progress at this. So, part of being a responsible + functioning adult [ Read Half-Way Through 2014 Post ], is living with less. De-cluttering is healthy and I like how good it felt after letting go of things that I no longer use and need.

Have you done any de-cluttering lately? If you were told that you need to let go of three things right now, what would these be? ☮..Peace + _Love + Good Vibes. RUSS.

I love this post. My girlfriend has a problem with letting go of things. All of her reasons are valid - she's not a hoarder. HOWEVER, I'd rather just get rid of it.

That sounds pretty cool to do. I'm always doing Spring cleaning like every 2 months lol. I do have to go through my clothes though, thanks for reminding me. =)

This sounds like a really cool challenge! I definitely need to go through one of my three closets and declutter..lol. I could probably bring some stuff to Goodwill or have a garage sale. Swapping with friends would be cool too!

I'ma pack rat and hoarder like you all my treasures will represent memory, a friend or a phase I went thru. Moving to the US I had to pack my whole life in 2 bags which meant to de-clutter it all, was hard but also made my heart feel lighter

I'm a clean freak and an OC mom so everyday I really make sure to lessen the clutter in our house. I feel anxious if there's one thing in my closet that I know I need to dispose. I always arrange mg things everyday and look for products that needs to be thrown away.

I need to do this in each kids rooms before school starts. It is so refreshing.

This is pretty awesome, I saw another blogger do a 40 bags in 40 days, meaning 1 trash bag full of whatever the task was for that day. To de-clutter your house and donate it. But I need to dedicate a week to this and have a yard sale at the end of that week.

What a cool thing to do on a massive scale!
Personally, I do such cleaning several times a year. Depending on items, I donate to my shelters for women and/or my friends.
Amazing feeling when we get rid of Stuff!

It took me a bit to understand the hastag. I missread it as Leprechaum first and some German type word second. After I finally understood it, I loved the challenge! Lol.

It's so awesome that you've turned this new leaf! Luckily for me, I've always been OC about my things haha!

You know, I love decluttering! I'm a minimalist which partly explains the lack of furniture and wide floor space here. :) Yeah, give those stuff that you don't need away. I wouldn't say wait to donate? But sometimes hand me downs can be helpful to some friends. I used to enjoy receiving hand me downs, too. Helped a lot in our finances back then.

I just finished decluttering my kid's closets and yes just like you I have many clothes to donate

Tell this to my wife, for this decluttering closet thing is but just an every week activity for her.

I did that last year during Christmas. Gave away everything that I received from my blogging life as a giveaway for a charity concert!

I need to declutter my kids closet. She has tons of baby clothes and perhaps i can give it to other moms who has a baby months old.

Ling Tan said...

I don't think I am very much a hoarder, but even then there are stuff I should go through and probably throw away - things like my uni economics text books for example! why I still have them, I wouldn't know! :)

Pooja Kawatra said...

Actually more like a spring cleaning as some people really have a habit to store and store many things that they forget what they have in the closet.
SO good !

I learnt about something similar in a seminar before. Thanks for reminding me what I have learnt.

Before my parents came for their holidays, I had to do some general cleaning and found a lot of items. It was hard to let go! I,too, is very attached to material things especially if its from special people.

Though I have thrown/given some others. I still have a lot to go through. But you're right. Decluttering is very healthy. You wouldn't know how it feels unless you really try and go through the process.

Franc said...

I can take a few pointers here. I need to do a lot of decluttering myself.

Fred Hawson said...

I know I have to do this, but it is not easy for me to throw memories away. There are things that are easy to throw away or give away, but not easy to decide on which ones. I would still rather keep them all in a big treasure box that is all mine, haha!

I like the concept, actually i need to declutter my house and wardrobe to create more space at home.

Kylie wenn said...

I bet very few guys will have reason to declutter as oppose to ladies. Anyway decluttering can be fun.
