Rainy day blues

We've been deprived of a beautiful sunny day for over six days now.Ö I am the least bit thrilled about it because I'm a sun baby. I live for circuit training, mojitos on a hot day, blue skies, and a lot of sunshine. The whole of last week was just awful and weather reports say that there wasn't even a typhoon. My Howe on the other hand is the opposite. He is like Edward Cullen; he loves this no-sun kind of weather.

Rainy days make me feel tired and lethargic.
I'm a pretty punctual person except for last week. From Monday to Saturday, I clocked in between 8:01AM to 8:05AM. Sure, this was still within the grace period set by the company, but little me does not like being late at all. Waking up in the morning, I rely on the natural morning light that pours through the tiny space in between the shades by my window. Obviously, I had none of this daylight for the past days, which made waking up in the morning challenging because each time I'd open my eyes, it looked like it was 4 o' clock in the morning outside.

Rain, rain go away.

Rainy days force me to skip the gym. Boo :(
Missed appointments and gym dates — blame it on our poor drainage system and Metro Manila traffic that goes from bad to worse to terrible when it rains. My gym is just a 10-minute drive from my work place, but last week was just so bad that I missed training thrice. I braved the rains on Monday but got stranded in one of the side streets because of the floods. It wasn't something that I was willing to go through again so for the next days, my gym bag just sat there at the back of my car. Sorry, Coach Ron.

And even if I don't like the rainy days, I love how they're perfect for cheese pizza and wine.
When all plans fail on a Friday night because of the rains, pizza delivery will always save the day ( or your evening! ). Last Friday, I discovered that Yellow Cab's 4 Cheese Pizza is yummy. My usual pizza is always overflowing with toppings, something like the more, the merrier because I have this impression that Cheese Pizza is boring. Surprisingly, even if Yellow Cab's 4 Cheese Pizza looked a little plain, it did not disappoint. Ramen has always been my favorite rainy day comfort food, but now there's a delivery alternative: 4 Cheese Pizza! When dining out, I often pair my pizza with a Cab or White Zinfandel but last week's bipolar weather made me try on a different wine style. I opened a bottle of Rosé and just like magic, being stuck at home didn't feel so bad anymore — nothing that a glass of wine can't fix.

It's Monday. I was up extra, extra early because I woke up to sound of rain pattering on my window. Even if I want to go back to bed, I'm all awake now. As if it's not enough that dark, grey skies and the gloomy weather are making me feel like I am trapped in a bubble, I got some Monday blues to cure, too. What a bad combination, no? But I'm a trooper. I've had more than enough of the rainy day blues and I refuse to be bitten by any of the Monday blues. I just want my sunny days back. I'd give anything for a nice, warm weather.

I miss Mr. Sun 😕
5 days is just too much. I never really liked the rainy days.

The rain had been horrible. I have nothing against rain, we need rain but please, not in a manner that causes floods. Having said that, I was not affected because I live in an area that doesn't flood. If I couldn't go to the office, or have meetings postphone due to weather, I work online. I don't have a downtime. I still cross the street and make tambay at Shangrila Mall. But for so many people, grabe ang inconvenience.

This made me think- do I love the sun or the rain? Honestly, I love the rain and walk in the rain. It seems romantic to walk outside with someone and you squeeze yourself to the other person who holds the umbrella for the both of you. I hate it though when oftentime, i cant go out because of the fact that it is raining. I love the sun as well and how i feel energetic by its mere presence. I just do not enjoy its extreme heat. So if I am to choose, perhaps I would go with the pizza and some soda. Hihi. I just love pizza may it rain or not.

When it rains in California, most people I know are happy, because it's always sunny here. I find going to the gym on a rainy day ideal (at least there's no sun to hang out in). I also like to stay in bed all day, eat an epic comfort cheat meal, and just relax. Just be lazy. Thanks for posting. Nice to see what others think.

you are right rainy days is sleep days for me. I love the coldness it brings and ohhhhh I have a hard time going out of the bed. What I hate about rain is that it causes flood in our country and it affects a lot of my fellow.

Yes I am a sun lover too. I love sunsets mostly because I am a night person but sunrise takes my breath away... it's very rare for me to experience it that is why.

I actually do love the rain, but only if I am indoors and doing something enjoyable, like baking or browsing the Internet or blogging or watching a movie. Otherwise, it is such a drag, especially if I have to go out and run an errand.

I on the other hand loves rain. I feel exhausted and tired during the day. But I can't blame if people can't love the soothing melody of the rain falling to the ground.

I was just at my in-law's family reunion and I met a relative who came from California. He said it hasn't rained for 2 years! He also mentions that some of the neighbors try to conserve water by not even watering the lawn and letting it turn brown. I guess it's all a matter of perspective ...

wow, i didn't know rain will affect your days so much! is it also because when it rains the rains are usually extremely heavy? getting stranded on the streets due to flood is really scary and annoying, isn't it?

I know rain gives most people melancholy feel... but to me, rainy days are great excuses for us to take a break from the hustle and bustle... plus it also cleanse my soul and emotions! Remember, rainbow comes after rain!

I hate how it's either super sunny or super rainy in Manila. I really appreciate the times when I'm just home and it's really cold because of the rain :)

As for me, it varies. If I don't have any appointments to attend, rainy days are relaxing not if it comes with lightning, though and if I have laundry to finish.

I have been seeing Facebook images here in the US about people wanting summer to end, and fall to begin. I was in severe disagreement. Finally, it rained. I was so happy! It's been like fall here all week, and though I loved summer, I am happy to see fall too <3.

I like rainy days. I like rainy days when I do not have to go out of the house. I like the cool clean air afterwards. I just don't want to wet my shoes. Hehe.

I also have a lot of activities cancelled due to the rain. Of course, there are some benefits of the rain too like cooler weather and a chance to rest so I'll just go with the positives.

I love the rain, it's relaxing and it helps me think. I also love the sun but sometimes, we just really need a little rain in our lives. I prefer a bit of balance between the two types of weather, the world needs both of them anyway!

I don't mind rainy days if I'm inside. If I'm outside that's a whole new ball game. ;)

I don't know how I feel about this post. When I was in India I loved the rains, coz it hot & humid always. I get out & jump & dance in rains. In the UK its always raining that I'm fed up of it. I love sun these days...

Keep up the spirit. It will stop raining. Hopefully now that I comment you feel a lot better. The rain is good for the plants to grow we say in Holland. But I prefer sun too to be honest.

Ah yes, Pizza and rain go together. RAin doesn't really hamper me nor stop me from going about with my itineraries...not until now anyway, where it's a bit challenging to get to places. It will change soon. :)

I love rainy days if I am indoors. But when I am outside, it's a No-no! My clothes will become wet and soiled. :( I am sorry to hear that it's been raining there for 6 days already.

I adore rainy days! There is something relaxing in those gloomy days. My favorite rainy day comfort food is pizza, pasta works really well too.

I don't love really hot days - but I would much prefer a day where the sun is out to the dark dismal days that are about to become the norm as winter sets in. x

I am a rain person. I love the feeling when it is raining but I don't like when it is raining too hard or it will flood in my area.

I appreciate both sunny days and rainy days. I love how the sun makes everything look so beautiful and I love how the rain makes everything sounds so amazing!

I like the rain sometimes too! It's a great veg out and recharge kind of day for me. I tend to stay tucked in with favorite reads and comfort foods!

My big boys like their pizza loaded. I'm more of the boring type and like it plain. ;)

I feel like I have a love hate relationship with rain. Sometimes I want it to but other times I do not. I do like that when it rains, I tend to settle in and nap some. Pizza and wine is perfect for a rainy day!

I love it! Rainy days may not be for outside activities, but pizza and wine are always a good thing!

I don't mind rainy days if they're not constant! I do like staying in and reading on a rainy day.

I love the rain but not the hassle it brings like traffic and floods. I also love ramen during the rainy season but the 4 Cheese Pizza sounds a good alternative. Thanks for sharing!

Rainy days can put a damper on things. I don't mind the rain but I like some sunshine in betweeb too.

My husband has always enjoyed the sound of rain while sleeping with the windows open. I on the other hand can't stand it because I am constantly worried of the damage a storm may cause. lol I am way too paranoid.

Saranghae Korea said...

I don't mind about rain as long as I am not doing anything. If I have to stay in my room for one whole day, heaven can pour all the rain it wants and it won't bother me at all. But I agree with what you said also, there are things you find hard to do when it's raining.

Annemarie LeBlanc said...

I love both rainy days and sunny days, depending on my mood and the activities I have planned for the day. I love it when it rains on late weekend afternoons. It is just so relaxing and lulls me to sleep.

I'm pretty happy with all weather, they just mean different things to me. Sustained periods of anything do get on my nerves though.

I really love rain but then there comes a point where it's like ok, enough rain. Bring on the sunshine!

Kendall Rayburn said...

Ah, the rain has been so crazy lately! We had some fun plans this weekend that had to get cancelled because of it. Definitely no fun, but it sure is relaxing to fall asleep to the rain!

Rain can be enjoyable or can turned into a disaster. This post reminds me so much of last year's rainy season.

I wouldn't say that I'm a sun baby (even if I did live in Florida for 7 years), but I can only handle one day of rain lol Then I get sad and moody. Hmmm maybe that does make me a sun baby lol

I have to admit that I too don't like the rainy days. The natural sunlight coming through the window in the morning makes for a great day. The cheese pizza and wine for the rainy days is indeed a great idea however. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
